Sedef Yılmabaşar Ertugan, the daughter of a ceramicist and painter mother (Jale Yılmabaşar) and an architect/engineer father (Necdet Ertugan), was attracted by colors and textures and decided to become a stylist after graduating from Boğaziçi University, Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management in 1987. He continued his fashion education, which he started in Istanbul, in Paris. After returning to Istanbul, in April 1998, he opened his first personal exhibition called "Kedici" at Işık High School Art Gallery, for the benefit of the Feyziye Schools Foundation. Then, he opened his second personal exhibition at Neyran Art Gallery in November 1999 and his 3rd personal exhibition at Izmir Aphrodie Art Center in May 2000. Additionally, in March 2000, she was selected as the "Most Successful Woman of 1999 in the Plastic Arts" competition in the competition organized by the Oriflame company.
